Demure: Katie Waissel tried out a new look as she arrived at X Factor rehearsals

She's been in the bottom two of X Factor three times already.

But now Katie Waissel has decided to adopt in a demure new look in the hope of convincing fans to give her a shot and keep her from the dreaded final sing-off.

The 24-year-old singer arrived at rehearsals today wearing a blue tiered coat over a pretty white dress, and black heeled brogues.

Katie had even tamed her normally wild blonde hair, smoothing it down and pinning it behind her ears.

The singer has been finding it difficult to win over viewers in recent weeks.

Following controversy when she was voted through instead of Treyc Cohen, Katie even received cyber death threats on social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook.

And Simon Cowell's close friend, and judges' houses helper, Sinitta has spoken out about Katie, admitting she is someone people either love or hate.

Sinitta said: 'I don't know what she needs to do to make people love her.

'She's like a lot of big artists. If you look at polls, you'll have Victoria Beckham leading a best-dressed list and topping a worst-dressed list at the same time.'

Katie admitted recently she is finding it difficult to cope with the hatred many X Factor viewers have for her.

Smiles all round: Rebecca Ferguson and Matt Cardle appeared to be in good spirits

She said: 'To have so much hate against me, I'm just like, "What in the hell have I done wrong?" because I'm not a bad person.'

But her new look might not be enough to save Katie from an X Factor exit, as she is currently favourite to be voted off the show with odds of 10/11.

Wagner is second favourite to leave the programme, with odds of 5/2.

Big grins: Matt and Mary Byrne waved for photographers outside the studio

Tomorrow night's show will see the contestants take on tracks by The Beatles.

And while Cher Lloyd is taking on one of the group's most famous tracks, Imagine, Katie is opting for a more upbeat performance with Help.

Rebecca Ferguson and Mary Byrne will be going down the ballad route with Yesterday and Something respectively, while Paije Richardson will sing Let It Be and One Direction will perform All You Need Is Love.

Wagner will be sticking to what he has become known for by performing a medley of Beatles hits including Get Back, Hippy Hippy Shake and Hey Jude.

Meanwhile, the show's stylist Grace Woodward appeared on This Morning today to speak about rumours she has started a romance with favourite Matt Cardle.

She told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford: 'I know all the contestants' intimate measurements.

'But I’m going to take this chance to clear up a few rumours. Those glasses that Matt has been wearing have nothing to do with me, there you go.

'I don’t like people who wear fake glasses, being a proper almost blind person – you know, they’ve got to be real.'

Pushed by Eamonn on what happens between her and Matt when they are alone at night, Grace said: 'That doesn’t happen.'

But pressed on rumours about ‘smooching’ backstage, she said: 'Well, you know, people can mistake intimacy of styling somebody on your knees and stuff like that, with something that’s not happening.

'We are very, very close...he's very, very polite and a lovely boy.'

The X Factor will be screened on ITV1 tomorrow night at 8pm.
